Guru Ram Das Birthday Celebration

October 9th

Guru Ram Das is the spiritual guide to Yogi Bhajan and the holder of the legacy of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. When we tune in before class with Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo, we tune in with Guru Ram Das subtle body and he guides us through the class. Guru Ram Das was born in the mid 1500's in India when it was going through great turmoil. He was the 4th Guru of the Sikh religion and represents the Neutral Meditative mind. He embodies humility, selfless service, and the heart center. He's known as the Lord of Miracles in which meditating upon him or the prayers that he transmitted, one is blessed with those virtues.

To celebrate Guru Ram Das, we chant a Shabd, or sacred sound current in a language derived from sanskrit, to give praise to Guru Ram Das. Within its few lines, it tells of the qualities of Guru Ram Das and invokes his blessing, that when meditating upon opens these qualities within us. We'll gather together in the Amrit Vela, the time of the ambrosial nectar, early in the morning to meditate and chant together and open ourselves to the Grace of Guru Ram Das. In doing so, we connect to the lineage of him, Kundalini yoga, and play a role in the legacy that follows.

Preparation Meditation-

Singing "Dhan Dhan Ram Das Gur" 11-31min. 11 days before event

All are Welcome!

Yogi Bhajan Remembrance Day

October 6th

Lets get together to celebrate the teachings and legacy of Yogi Bhajan, our teacher and Master of Kundalini Yoga. Yogi Bhajan came to America in 1969 and openly taught Kundalini Yoga, a discipline for self mastery, that was not openly taught previously before. He said, "I'm not here to gain students, but to create teachers." Through this quote a mission was set in mind by Yogi Bhajan to provide humanity with knowledge and a system to live fully and wholly in this transition of our times. On October 6th, 2004, Yogi Bhajan left his physical body but said that his presence and teachings would be alive to those who consciously called upon him. So, on October 6th of each year we come together for a feast to give honor and remembrance to the teachings and legacy of Yogi Bhajan, to connect with his spirit of service to humanity and human consciousness.

All are welcome to participate in a potluck dinner at Nihal's house to meet and greet. We'll watch a video lecture of Yogi Bhajan and participate in a meditation that he leads to get first hand experience of his powerful teachings.
